Call for Symposium/Workshop Proposals
DEADLINE: July 31, 2026
*All deadlines 5:00pm ET
The Institute for Technology in Psychiatry (ITP) at McLean Hospital is pleased to announce the call for symposium and workshop proposals for the 10th annual Technology in Psychiatry Summit, taking place December 10–11, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts.
Symposia and workshops should reflect the core mission of the ITP: promoting, standardizing, validating, and ethically advancing the use of technology to improve psychiatric care and research. “Technology” may include, but is not limited to, smartphone applications, wearable devices, virtual reality, machine learning, artificial intelligence, passive and active sensing, and internet-based care.
Symposia and Workshops:
- Accepted symposia and workshops will be allocated 45 minutes, including audience Q&A.
- Symposia should include at least 3 presenters and 1 moderator. Workshops may include one or more instructors.
- Symposium chairs may also serve as speakers or moderators.
- Symposium proposals should present a cohesive overarching theme linking individual presentations.
- Workshop proposals should clearly describe the intended learning objectives and practical skills participants are expected to gain.
- All speakers are expected to present in person during their assigned timeslot. Approval of pre-recorded content for accessibility or extenuating circumstances will be at the discretion of the Program Committee.
- There is no maximum number of presenters; however, proposals will be reviewed to ensure the content can reasonably fit within the allotted timeslot.
- Preference may be given to symposia featuring speakers from multiple institutions or organizations in order to promote collaboration and diversity of perspectives.
- We welcome submissions focused on scientific, clinical, or technological innovation. Sessions that primarily serve as commercial promotion or product placement for a company, service, or product will not be accepted.
- The ITP is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion across all areas of the summit. Proposed sessions are encouraged to include speakers and contributors from diverse backgrounds, career stages, institutions, and disciplines, as well as content addressing underserved populations and health inequities.
Areas of Particular Interest to the Program Committee:
- AI and Society
- Digital Health Applications
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Pervasive Sensing
- Digital Phenotyping at Scale
Presenter Registration Requirement:
Acceptance of a proposal is contingent upon all speakers, moderators, and instructors registering for TIPS 2026. Registration fees are not waived, and participation will only be confirmed upon completion of registration.
Submission Process:
All proposals must be submitted through the online submission system.
Please refer to the Submission Site User Guide for detailed instructions on creating and finalizing proposals.

Abstract Requirements:
- Symposium submissions should include a brief symposium overview abstract submitted by the chair (maximum 200 words) summarizing the overall theme, significance, and structure of the session.
- Individual presentation abstracts are required for each symposium speaker (limited to 250 words) and should briefly describe:
- The primary topic or question being addressed
